    Researching the future of the Balkans

Countries in Central and South-Eastern Europe make up an area which lacks comparative literature on democratization and security. Thus, through the research information exchange program, initiated through the Central and South-Eastern European Security Forum, we intend to:
  • set up an extensive research database which will gather previous research works and also generate new working hypothesis;
  • develop a network of public opinion researchers and local think-tanks applying a common research framework and methodology;
  • develop a democratization theory, meant to address contextual considerations regarding the specific region;
  • develop better frameworks for the comparative study of the sources and transformation of security policy in the Balkans;
  • set up a website on the addressed topics and submit a Call for papers;
  • draw up national assessments of security and democracy in countries involved in the project;
  • draw up policy options / recommendations for a final regional report.
